My emphasis has always been on building better houses, carefully designed to reflect the customer's wishes and best utilize the site.
Houses that anticipate the sun and time, that are contextually correct, and historically and stylistically accurate. Add to this, a preference for masonry construction and a sincere desire to build houses that will look good and perform well for over 100 years.
Having always been a custom builder, every one of my projects is unique and individual. A significant amount of my work has been on difficult, hillside sites and, advanced construction methods like cast-in-place concrete and steel are de rigueur; nothing is too complicated.
I have been designing, remodeling, and building houses in Arizona since 1986. With an education and significant experience in geological engineering, a degree in production management, and some solid experience in interior design, construction came naturally. Possessing a naturally keen aesthetic, strong technical experience (e.g. a journeyman carpenter), and a thorough understanding of the natural world, I know building.
Typically involved early in the process, I am proficient at site evaluation, with extensive experience with local codes, demolition, geology and excavation, infrastructure, and civil engineering requirements. Working along with your architect, or my architect, I can make an idea tangible and then, create a realistic preliminary budget and conceptual plan.
Participating through the design process, I bring a broad knowledge of methods, materials, and costs, and acts as a value engineer. Thus, the final design brings together everyone’s desires and reality, to create a great project.
